7 weeks old!

Today Abby is 7 weeks old. She's had a rough week, getting her shot gave her a low grade fever and made her cranky for the last two days. She's recovered and is a happy baby today. At 7 weeks Abby is really starting to smile, coo and hold up her head. The minute she is picked up she's looking around and observing everything. She recognizes both Dave and I and gave both of us big smiles today. Some of her best smiles come at about 1:30am during her feeding, she is always laughing at herself and smiling during that feeding. It makes the feeding worth every minute of missed sleep because of those smiles.

Abby and I walked 2.5 miles today and did a little shopping at the mall. I've been able to time our walks so she sleeps through the majority of them but even when she wakes up she loves checking everything out. Here are some of her newest pics.

6 week checkup

Abby had her 6 week checkup today. Peggy and I predicted 12 pounds, and we were almost right....11lbs 15oz and 22.5 inches. That puts her in the 90th percentile for weight and the 75th percentile for head size and length. The doctor said she is very "proportional."

She also got a shot with like 5 different immunizations in it. Boy is she lucky that she didn't need a shot for each! She took it like a trooper though, and only cried for a minute or two. Tonight she's still pretty good, although feeling a little warm (they said she could get a low grade fever from the shot).

She goes back in four weeks for a checkup and more shots!

Cleaning up the yard

Our neighbor caddy corner (Peggy says kiddie-corner) from our backyard is elderly and has help with most of her yard work. Last week we heard a really loud buzz and couldn't figure out what it was. Then we looked out the back window to find this.
Sidebar - We don't usually spy on our neighbors - at least not with the camcorder....

Proton's voice

As many of you know, Proton doesn't bark. Once in awhile she'll growl or bark once or twice if the mailman comes to the door... but nothing like this.
Proton usually gets locked in the spare bedroom when we leave the house but we've been wanting to let her stay out as long as she stays off the furniture.
So Dave set up the video camera while we went next door to visit with our nice neighbors. We were around the corner so Proton can't see us but she was still quite upset.... at least she stayed off the couch.

New Video

We've been having computer problems with the video editing program. But Dave seems to have worked all the bugs out (fingers crossed). So this is from New Years Eve before Santa and the all of our friends stopped by. Abby is really starting to smile and talk. She has always talked in her sleep but now she is always telling us about something. One of her favorite things to do of late is sit in her swing and talk to the bears hanging from above. The bears must have a very exciting life with lots of ups and downs because they either have Abby laughing or yelling.



Tonight was bath night, tomorrow she has her 6 week checkup and she is going to stop at FOX2 to meet mama's co-workers. Abby screams during the majority of her bath only stopping when she's being sprayed with warm water but as soon as the washcloth comes out she becomes very angry. Abby is also conquering holding her head up, vid to come soon.

Abby's over 6 weeks old! Can you believe it? We snapped a few more pictures today. Peggy's planning on posting some videos tomorrow. Mommy and Abby went to the mall today without daddy! They needed some girl shopping time.

New Year Visit from Santa

Santa made a last stop at the Pleimann's house on New Years Eve. Both Abby and Charlotte had not seen Santa this year, (it's really expensive at the mall) & a Santa is a close friend of Daddy's so he had no problem stopping by for a few pictures as long as adult beverages were served. Abby slept through the entire photo opportunity. Charlotte was very curious about this very hairy man and didn't cry!
