A major snowstorm is blowing through the midwest. Unlike our friends in the north St. Louis shuts down with just an inch of snow. Starting this afternoon we are expected to get 1-2 inches of ice followed by 6-12 inches of snow!
So to keep everyone on schedule at work they have us staying at the local Comfort Inn. I think there is close to 40 of us spending the night. One of the girls picked up a movie from Redbox so we have something to watch. I am hoping to enjoy a quiet room and extra sleep... as long as we have power!
That's the big concern, downed power lines. I'll keep you all posted on my situation. In the meantime, positive thoughts that I don't go into labor surrounded by my co-workers!

Sesame Street Live
Elmo and Super Grover stopped by News11 @ 4pm earlier this week and in return I scored some awesome comp tickets. We were on the floor just three rows from the stage! Too bad Abby hates loud noises and people in costumes.
All week we counted down to the show.... talked about going to Elmo's House. Abby was pumped. And then we got there and it was all down hill. She did want to wear her tutu because she's in love with Zoey right now and Zoey wears a tutu.
Like I said we had great seats, and we got there early enough that we were able to take pictures in front of the stage. Thanks to Auntie Sally for filling in for Dave while he and the boys went to the auto show.
Right before the show started, Ernie and Bert came out on the stage to remind people about no video cameras. Abby was okay at that point.
And then the characters came out on the floor... and the "I want to go home" 's began. She got loud real quickly.
Every time the characters were on the stage she was fine....
and she even stood up to dance!
I thought things were looking up.
But it didn't last long and we had to leave before intermission. Thanks to Auntie Sally for coming with, she had to make a few bathroom trips with Abby because I'm just too big and uncomfortable to climb up and down the steps with Abbers.
I guess we'll try again next year.
Guys Night
Saturday night after Sesame Street Live, we hosted guys night, Dave had over his buddies for a big lasagna dinner and video games. But first they had to put in some face time with Abigail. She loves when her "friends" come over. She sure knows how to keep them busy.

35 Weeks and still cooking
Only five weeks until my scheduled c-section. I'm huge. Everyday my co-workers just laugh because I'm still waddling around, bossy as ever. Thank goodness Dave is a great cook or Abby would be eating a lot of mac'n'cheese and sandwiches. I'm exhausted at the end of the day so Dave is doing all the cooking so I can spend more time with Abbers.
I'm already bigger than I was on Abby's birth date, and she was 9lb 4oz. The doc thinks this one might be 10lbs! At this rate the child will come out wearing 6month clothing. Ignore my hair, it's late at night and I didn't even look in the mirror before I had Dave take this. Plus this is after the snowstorm, ugh.
Abby is starting to wonder if Booger will ever get here. Everyday when I get home, she says "Booger here yet?" We talk about she/he still being in my belly and just 5 weeks until we go to the doctors to pick he/she up. She's very interested. Her Aunt Anna and Uncle Jon got her this great book on being a big sister and she loves reading it every night. This was the other night when she wanted to feed Booger. I'm pretty sure the baby is well fed but she just wanted to double check.

Snow!
It took me over a half hour to clean off the car. I know that seems like a long time but I had to stop and rest. I did enjoy the quiet night at the hotel, I got to hang out with one of our other producers and take a nice long shower uninterrupted this morning. Not something that happens often at our house.
Word in the weather department is that Sunday/Monday's snowstorm could be another big one, 4+ inches. Ugh. I'm ready for spring.
Fully Automated
We've been trying to give Abby more freedom to do things on her own, especially in regard to using the potty. We figure this is a good idea with baby booger coming so soon.
We're home from school today for a snow day (four whole inches! hah). Abby wanted to wash her hands after breakfast. So, I let her pull one of the chairs from the kitchen in to the bathroom to wash her hands. She did it all by herself. Well, apparently to her that was the coolest thing ever (she usually doesn't get to wash her hands by herself because she's not tall enough!).....
Over the next 30 or so minutes, she magically had to go to the bathroom 5 times. Well, she does most things herself now (pull down her pants, holding herself on the toilet, pulling up her pants, etc). We just help her up on the potty (when she doesn't have her step stool, which was upstairs at the time) and wiping.
So, I decided to bring her step stool downstairs to see if she would do everything herself. So, she climbed up on the chair to turn on the light. Got down. Stood up on the step stool, pulled down her pants, sat down, (didn't go because she had just gone), "went," stood up, pulled up her pants ("undies first" as she always tells us), closed the toilet, flushed (even though there was nothing there, she enjoys flushing), got off the stool, got on the chair, turned on the water, washed her hands, turned off the water, dried her hands, turned off the light, and got down. Success!
Again, apparently that was awesome, because she proceeded to tell me she has to go potty another three times in ten minutes.
She's very proud of herself, as am I.

Abby has recently started using the word "either" at the end of her sentences. The only problem? She doesn't use it quite right. But it's pretty funny at the same time.....
She likes to say things like "I wanna eat some either" or "I like that either." Initially, we were kind of confused as to what this was supposed to mean. An Abby Short
No, this is not about a piece of clothing.....
Tonight, Abby was combing Peggy's hair. She stopped, leaned over Peggy's shoulder and said "I be gentle, mama!" So cute.
Abby is "preparing" for baby booger. Whenever we eat something and Peggy and booger are not around Abby always sets some aside for them. Example....yesterday we were eating some chips and Abby made a pile for booger and a pile for mama. It was cute.
There was one more thing, but now I can't remember it. So, that's all for this Abby "short"

Rockwood PAT
Abby had her first Rockwood Parents as Teachers visit yesterday. We've been in PAT's in our last district but this was the first time in the new house.
The first thing out of Abby's mouth was "Booger is coming". Yes we've been talking about this a lot so apparently Abby thought it was very important for Ms. Stephanie to know.
Ms. Stephanie gave Abby a short developmental test, she's way ahead verbally and developmentally. She is putting together 4 and 5 word sentences which is a goal for 3 year olds and she can sort shapes by color and object. Ms. Stephanie couldn't believe how advanced she is. No worries from us or from Ms. Stephanie. We learned more about the Rockwood district and the preschool program. We were hoping Abby could get in this fall but the way her birthday falls she can't enter until 2012, big bummer. She did tell us about some other options for all day preschools in the fall. We've got some time to research options.
Abby is very excited about Booger arriving in just 5 weeks! So am I! We unpacked the bottles the other day and she tried to feed Booger.

A's
We've been trying to teach Abby how to write an A lately. She was doing alright with it, but didn't seem to be getting too far. A few nights ago though, she completely surprised us in the bathtub. She has crayons used for writing on the tub. We looked down and she drew this!:

We were sooooo excited and proud!
We did some more practicing later that day on her new aquadoodle. She's getting really good at making A's!
She did all of those completely on her own. Amazing!
We've moved on to B's, but have found those a bit more challenging!

On Her Stage
Abby loves the stairs in the new house. She thinks that the landing is her stage. Once a day or so she gets up there and just starts singing songs and performing for us.
She's getting REALLY good at some of her favorite songs.

Random Stories
Talking
Over the past month or two, Abby has had a verbal explosion. She is learning so many new words and full sentences. She's now to the point of speaking some 6 or 7 word sentences. It's simply incredible. With all this new found language comes some funny things....
Whenever we tell Abby that we're going to do something later, she always follows it up with: "later, soon?" She says it in a very quizzical and comical way. Makes us laugh every time.
Sick
I was pretty sick one day last week. Not sure what it was, some sort of stomach bug. So, Peggy got Abby up to go to school and I just stayed in bed. She came in to say goodbye and I explained that I didn't feel well. She was very concerned (she's been in a very sweet mood the last couple of weeks).
So later that day I went to pick her up. I walked in the door, and kneeled down to talk to her. Before I could say anything to her, she said "you feel better, Daddy?" My heart just melted. I didn't look sick, sound sick or anything. She remembered all day and asked me if I was alright. It was ADORABLE. I LOOOOOVE my little girl.
Dave!
Peggy calls me Dave all the time in front of Abby. Well, Abby has apparently picked up on it, because she has now started calling me Dave. She's done it at least 20 times. So I have to have a conversation with her each time. She doesn't really understand why it's alright for Peggy to call me Dave, but she can't.
Today I was up on the roof taking down the Christmas lights. Peggy yelled out for me to show me something. I didn't hear her, so she yelled my name a few more times. Abby then yelled "DAVE!!!!" at the top of her lungs.
On another note, we ordered Abby's new bedroom set on Friday. It has to be special ordered, so it should be here in 8 to 10 weeks. So, if it doesn't come in before Booger arrives, Booger will go in the pack-n-play and Abby will stay in her current bed.
Less than two months until the new baby is here!!!!
