A Week of Firsts

Our little man is not so little anymore. Noah's been very busy this week. He started saying "mama."  He's been saying "dada" for a couple of months now.  But, before it was mostly gibberish.  Now he will say it when repeating us.  He also started clapping and waving! He's very proud of himself and always cracks up when we wave and clap back.  He's army crawling/rolling all over the living room. He wants into anything and everything he can get to. He is now 7 months old.

 And look at those smiles, they love each other so much. Abby talks to Noah all day long, she's always asking what he's doing, or eating. She loves to feed him his puffs or spoonfuls of his dinner. She's so sweet with him.  Just in the past month, they've started to become best of buddies.

Having Fun at Sam's Club

These two are really starting to interact and enjoy each other.  No better time to eat noses than when sitting in a cart at Sam's Club!

Abby was watching me change Noah's diaper and was talking about Noah's poop.

Abby: "It looks like a screwdriver." (which it didn't at all)
Me: "It does?"
Abby: "Yeah!"
Me: "I don't think so."
Abby: "It looks like a cutter."
Me: "What's a cutter?"
Abby: "It cuts things."
Me: "You mean a knife."
Abby: "Noah, your poop looks like a knife."
Abby: "Noah pooped for me."

Toy Story 3

Disney on Ice brought Toy Story 3 to town this week. I'm thankful I have a job that allows me to score some great freebies, and tickets to opening night is one of those things. This is the third year we've gone and taken Abby's pal, Charlotte and her mommy. Dave is a huge Toy Story fan and he and Abby have seen the movies a few times. The neighbor girl gave Abby some cowboy boots awhile back, this was the first time she has wore them.... they are about three sizes too big. But look at them they are too cute!

 Abby hates loud noises and hasn't sat through a whole Disney show because of the noise level. We solved this problem by borrowing Daddy's headphones that he wears when mowing the lawn. She loves it and it works great. I don't know why Disney has such loud music but it is a little on the ridiculous side.

We had told Abby it was a girls night, and we had dinner with Dave and Noah but before heading downtown we stopped at McDonalds and had ice cream. Abby thought she won the lottery. Too bad after about four bites she was full. I think she was nervous about the noise, and show.
Getting to the Chaifetz Arena was a little bit of a nightmare. Apparently Toy Story is a big seller, I've never seen so much traffic for a Disney show. We were late and so were Charlotte and her mommy. It's okay we so the whole show and had a blast. The music was totally aimed at the parents "Let's go Barbie" Charlotte and Abby had a great time dancing and waving at their favorite characters.


This was intermission, Abby wanted to keep the headphones on just in case the music started again.

Quotables - Guys Night

Peggy and Abby went to Toy Story 3 on ice last night (a post should be coming soon).  We talked all week about how they were going to have a "girls night."  Abby was super excited, especially when we told her she could go to McDonald's before the show to get ice cream.

A few minutes before they were going to leave:

Me: "Can I go to the show with you?"
Abby: "No!"
Me: "Why not?  I want to go see woody and buzz."
Abby: "You need stay home and have a guys night....with Noah."

Haha, she's so smart and funny....

Dance Class

Saturday was Abby's first dance class. She has been counting down the days for a few weeks now and could hardly stand still Saturday morning because she was so excited. Most questions were answered with squeals of joy. Dave and I were a little concerned how she would do in a room having to say goodbye to us for an hour. But she showed us just how grown up she is. She kissed us goodbye and walked right in and sat down with the other girls. She is one of the youngest girls in the class its for 3-4 year-olds but she kept up and was a great listener. Thanks to Grams for the great leotard.

There's one little window for the parents to look so we all had to take turns watching the girls.

Quotables: Did You Say Thank You?

Sally came in town tonight.  She was sitting on the couch, playing with Abby.  Abby noticed the ring on her finger, and said "that's a nice ring, where'd you get it?"

Sally: "Steven gave it to me."

Abby (very matter-of-factly) replied: "that's very nice, did you say thank you?"

Haha, that's our girl....

On another note, she's started calling Noah "Noah Thomas" when he's not doing something she wants him to do.

Whenever he whines or cries, she says "Noah Thomas stop crying!"

6months and 2 1/2 years

The weather is great here, I love fall. After Noah's haircut I wanted new pictures of the kids. So I searched the kids closet and we gave them baths, and headed into the great outdoors. Sometimes the size of our yard is overwhelming, but on days like this when we are looking for some great pictures I love this yard. We have so many options for taking pictures with an acre to use for backdrops.

They are so cute. We did bribe Abby, after every few pictures we did a "project". She wanted to build things with bark that fell from our birch tree. It was easy to stop and play for a few minutes between changing locations.

This might be my new favorite of the two of them.

She is so good to her little brother.

Noah was very interested in the leaves. Plus his 12 month pants were a little tight over the cloth diaper making it a little more difficult for him to sit up.

I love these curls. Noah's got the best hair, it's such a mop. I can't believe we did this.

A look from behind.

This was early in the cutting stage, when Noah was still laughing about it. Near the end he started throwing a major fit.

But look at our big boy now, all of a sudden he looks so old. You can't tell from this picture but he now has two teeth on the bottom. He is chewing on everything. I love this little boy.

Finally Some Nice Temperatures!

It's a beautiful day outside.  We've spent most of our Labor Day taking walks and hanging out in the front yard.  Apparently both Abby and Noah love the leaves.  Noah was just playing (trying to refrain from eating them) while Abby was getting a pile of leaves together to feed her doggy.

Quotables - Pine Cones

It is BEAUTIFUL outside.  After a grueling, hot summer, yesterday felt like late fall.  Today was just as nice.  So, the kids and I spent a good chunk of the morning outside.  We went on a walk and Abby found a pinecone.  She immediately decided that we need to cover it in peanut butter and seed to feed the birds.  When I asked why, she said "the birds are very hungry!"  I agreed and told her we would make it later tonight.

So, when I put her down for her nap, the following conversation took place:
Me: "You were a really good girl this morning.  Maybe when you get up we can go outside again."
Abby: "And we can hang up the pone-cine?"
Me: "You mean the pine cone?"
Abby: "Yeah."
