More blood work

Wednesday Abby is having a second round of blood work done at the pediatrician's office. Over the past week she has had three more episodes. There is definitely something wrong, we are not sure if we are just not feeding her the right stuff or if there is an underlying issue we haven't addressed yet. She has to fast again for the appointment, no food after dinner Tuesday night.

Fingers crossed we have some answers by Thursday afternoon.

Daddy Time

Saturday and Sunday mornings are Daddy and Abby time. Yes, I get her up (more likely, she gets me up) and ready for school Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, but we don't have any time to play on those days.

So, this morning Abby was all over the place. She was just having a great time, running from room to room. Before her nap (since she got up at 4:45, she just went down for her first nap), we had a blast playing with her blocks. She has a TON of blocks. Abby helped me build an arch. And then she decided we needed three more arches that crossed that arch (ok, that might have been my idea). Then Abby decided there needed to be an alligator on top of the arch, so there it is. I think the alligator is supposed to be protecting the arch from intruders.All I can wonder is how much weight the top of that arch can hold......it's pretty strong. We might be doing an experiment when Abby wakes up....

Snow!

Here in St. Louis we tend to get shorthanded on snow. So when it does fall, the city shuts down. Which is perfectly fine by me. The snow started falling around seven last night and continued into the morning rush hour. Meaning everything is closed today. Over 500 schools, daycares and dance classes all closed. At our house about 3-4 inches of snow fell, it is Sunday for me, and Dave's school canceled so we ventured out into the backyard for some fun in the snow.

Finally a reason to wear her new boots and snowpants. This is good practice for Minnesota.

Abby wanted was carrying my sweatshirt around last night, so I put it on her. She was cracking up, she couldn't figure out where to put her arms.

But I do believe we might have a future Gorlok. How cute is she?!

Promotion

Today I was named the director/producer of our new 4pm newscast on Channel 11, the CW, FOX2's sister station. FOX2 and Ch11 merged back in 2008 and now we all work together in one building. It will be a one hour newscast hoping to compete with Oprah's declining numbers on NBC. The premise will be one anchor, and multiple guests. News, weather, sports and hot topics. The anchor has yet to be named, I have my eyes set on a few already in the newsroom, but I doubt my opinion will count.

The show doesn't premiere until the beginning of September. The reason for the advance notice, we'll have to switch Abby to full time daycare. This isn't a big deal, she won't have to make the switch until after summer break. Plus I'll be home in the mornings, everyday. My new hours will be 9a-5p, Monday - Friday. I've never worked normal hours. I guess I'll have to adjust. Having weekends off is going to be a huge plus. It will also be wonderful to spend more time with Dave and Abby on the weekends and not worry about getting in a nap.

There are going to be lots of pros and cons to this position. I'm excited for the challenge for designing and laying out a new show. And I am thankful that my boss believes I'm ready for this new position. I just hope I can produce a newscast that brings more viewers to the CW.

New Boots

Abby and I are starting to prepare for our trip to MN later this month, which means winter boots. It's hard to find toddler boots in MO, either they were too big or didn't have thickness to them. This is the best I could do.

I also found snowpants for her, I hope she likes snow. As for me the winter weather is always a big shock. Nasty temperatures below zero, yuck. Hopefully Grandpa Bo will take her sledding, hint hint.

Words

Abby is talking up a storm these days. Over the holidays she really had a word explosion. She's definitely growing up. It's amazing how quick she picks up words too. In the words of Abby Cadabby "words, words, and more words, how I adore words." Abby has become quite the fan of Elmo and Abby Cadabby, she rarely sees "Sesame Street" but we have Elmo books and play Abby Cadabby music videos on the computer. That's right Sesame Street characters have music videos.

Anyway some of Abby's new words include: ball, elmo (she says m-elmo as you'll hear in the video below), down (sounds more like dow....maybe she'll be a stockbroker someday), more-more, sseee (please), book, no-no, row-row (row-row-row your boat), uh-oh (whenever she drops something, or more amusingly when she's about to drop something), out, bo (grandpa bo) and li-li for her cousin Lily. Add her signs and she's well over 20 words, simply amazing.

She has also started saying "daddy" instead of da-da. "Daddy" is probably her most well pronounced word. I am very proud. Whenever Peggy tries to get her to say "mommy" though, she just says me-me.
