Daycare Rave

We love Abby's new daycare, Goddard, this week they played dress up. Abby was a ballerina, her teachers say she was very distracted with everyone else's costumes and not interested in her tutu.They also paint about once a week, last week it was their footprints. I have no idea how they can keep all the babies from going home covered in paint - we've yet to see any on her clothes. So cute!

Melts my heart

This photo shoot may have been our last barefoot for the season. It was a chilly 66 in the house this morning, time to break out the sweatshirts.

Check out the space between Abigail's front teeth, it is very similar to the space I had when I was a wee one. The doctor says it's good for little one's to have space between their teeth, makes more room for their permanent teeth. I'm pretty sure for us it just means more orthodontist bills later in life!

First Steps!

Abby has been a walkin' fool lately. She has picked it up so quickly. She took her first official step last week. But, in the last couple of days, she's really been putting it all together. She seems to set a new record for number of steps every day or two lately. This video is from her latest adventure tonight (although in just the last 10 minutes, she's already broken her record from this video!).


When I asked Peggy if there's anything else she wants me to write she said: "We love her and she is adorable." So, there you have it!

Figuring Out Stuff

Abby is growing so much lately (and I don't mean physically). She seems to figure out at least one new thing everyday. Here's a list of the things she has learned or mastered in just the last week or two.

1. She is now a pro at turning off the light switch in her room. This is something we've been working on for a couple months.
2. She is figuring out toys. See example video with her glow worm below. We didn't think she'd figure out the glow worm for a while because the button to push is pretty small.

She's had this one figured out for a while, but now she plays with it standing up.

3. She's getting very good at turning the pages of books....she LOVES her books.
4. She started trying to stack small wooden blocks. Peggy had built a tower of them, and Abby tried to add one to the top instead of knocking them over like she usually does. She ended up knocking them over, but it's the thought that counts!
5. She is starting to learn how to add the rings to the classic "ring stacker" toy. It's really cool to see her turn the ring in her hands in order to put it on correctly.
6. She's already starting to figure out her new (to her) Tickle Me Elmo.
7. There is always a comb on her changing table. Every time we change her, she picks it up and tries to comb her hair.
8. She is now a pro at walking while holding on. She loves walking around the house holding on to us. She's also good at walking on her own around the couches, table, piano, etc.

9. She knows which toys are Proton's. Proton has a rope that she keeps in the living room. Abby likes to pick it up and take it over to Proton and try to put it in her mouth. Sometimes Proton will play, sometimes she just gives Abby "the look."

10. She gives "fives" like a pro. If you're lucky, you sometimes even get the infamous "double five." We're working on "knucks." She does make a fist, but usually she sticks her index finger out, sort of defeating the point.

11. Shes really good at giving kisses lately too. The only problem is that they're open mouth and slimy as could be. That's ok though, we still love 'em.

This is probably only a partial list. It's just amazing in the last month how far she has come cognitively.

10 months old

I can't believe Abby is already 10 months old!

She thinks Proton is the funniest person in the house.

She says "mama" "dada" "woof-woof" and "baba."

She is taking steps, 2-3 at a time!

She loves books, her favorite place in the house is in front of her book shelf pulling out books and staring at the pages.

She cracks up every time we "pretend" to scare her.

She is ticklish, her armpits, belly, toes, and knees.

She can find her nose.

She now has 6 teeth, and working on two more.

Trying to figure out how to open the computer, deep in thought.

Abby was looking cute yesterday, so I attempted to take some more pictures of her outside. I probably should have waited a little longer for the sun to get behind the house. But none the less she's adorable... but I'm bias.

Nightly Walks

Every night after dinner we take Abby on a walk. Most nights she babbles on and on, but last night she babbled for a little while and soon she was fast asleep. She must have had a big day at daycare.

And for some reason she fell asleep pulling her hair, she slept that way for almost 20 minutes.

And check out those teeth, finally the top two are through. The top side teeth are now coming in.... she's a drooling monster.

We finally have a nephew... Asher Robert, 9lbs 4oz, he finally made his appearance Saturday, Sept. 12th. Congrats to Michael, Erin and Lily on the their newest addition.
