Easter coming?

Abby helped me get out the Easter decorations the other day. You may remember she's not a fan of Santa and the idea of a larger than life rabbit coming in her house is slightly terrifying. Everyday she asks "Easter coming over?" I tell her its still a few weeks away and that the Easter Bunny actually comes over when she's sleeping which she replies "I don't want Easter to come over either." I'm sure she'll get over it once she sees her basket. She's a funny little girl.

Human

I asked Abby what she wanted to be when she grows up and she said "Human." I think I've let her watch "The Little Mermaid" too many times.

The Princess and the worm

Abby loves to hunt for worms and she likes to dress as a princess. Today she was wearing her "princess jewelery" and digging for worms. I don't think Princess Ariel ever dug for worms but it sure makes this two year old happy.

2 weeks old

Okay so Noah is 2 weeks and a few days.... time just gets away with two little ones in the house.

Noah is sleeping great in his own crib, waking every 3-4 hours to eat. He's super calm compared to his big sister at this age. He's also very noisy. He talks the whole time he eats and while he sleeps. It's kinda funny the way he grunts and carries on a conversation. He's becoming more and more alert, today he actually was awake for about 3 hours this morning. Abby is doing a great job as a big sister. She loves to hug and kiss her baby brother. Friends of ours held Thanksgiving dinner in March so Abby wanted to wear a "pretty dress."

Home Life

Life at home is finally getting into a routine. We tried having Noah sleep in the pack'n'play in our room for the first few nights but he was very unhappy in there. So we gave in and let him sleep in the bed with us. This made him very happy, but I hardly slept because I was so worried about Dave or myself rolling over on him. So we decided to just move him into the crib. The first night was rough but after thinking about it we realized the only time the little man is mad is when he's flat on his back so we propped up his bed so he's sleeping at a bit of an angle and he's a happy camper.

Almost daily Abby wants her picture take with Noah. It's pretty cute. She's doing so well as a big sister. She loves to help feed Noah and hold him.

I love those cheeks, he definetly eats well.

This was Noah's first sponge bath. He wasn't impressed and all Abby wanted to do was play in the water...

My dad, Bobo, arrived this past Friday for a quick weekend visit.

Abby has never had to share her Bobo before but she did it. And she did a great job.

Auntie Sally also came to town to see Dad, she hasn't seen Dad since Christmas. It was also a chance to see her new nephew again. Abby just loves her Auntie Sally.

So everyone except Noah looks good in this picture, I'm pretty sure we don't want to know what he's doing in this one.

This is Noah at just one week. He looks so big. He's got to be pushing 10lbs already.

Gotta love the help Abby is offering. We don't push her to hold or help but she often offers it up. It's wonderful. It helps that Noah is an extremely easy baby. I don't remember Abby being a very fussy baby but she definitely wasn't this easy. Noah just goes with the flow. The only time he tends to get fussy is when he wants to eat.

This was his first real bath, we set it up so Abby could bathe next to him in the tub. She didn't really care but it was easier to get both baths done at the same time.... says the lady who took pictures and didn't have to clean either kid. I just got them undressed and back in jammies afterwards.

This is Noah's first cloth diaper! Yep, we are doing it again. Already been through one load of laundry.

And he's already found his thumb. We took the pacifier after about three days. It was such a pain. I gave up on the breastfeeding, I'm still pumping all his milk, except one bottle of formula before bed. It keeps me busy to feed him and pump especially during the day when I'm home alone with both kids and at night it keeps me up longer after feedings but it's so good for him I don't mind doing it.

More Hospital Photos

Here's some more pictures from the hospital. Sorry it's been so long since we posted. Time has gotten away from us this past week. Between visitors and adjusting to midnight feedings.

Learning to hold Baby Noah as Abby refers to him, when shes not calling him Booger.

Grams came to town as a surprise to meet Noah. It was great to see her, thanks to Marty for driving.

We had a steady stream of visitors over the weekend, including Jane and Kevin, Ryan, Jackie and Angie.

Abby wore her big sister shirt to the hospital Sunday, so we changed Noah for some family photos. I know we are crazy for attempting this in the hospital but its what we do. And Abby was so good about the whole thing. She loves being a big helper.

This is the craziness that is now our lives. This picture just cracks me up. Thankfully our first outing in public was much more organized than this picture leads on.

Our last night at the hospital there was a string of tornadoes to come through St. Louis so we spent part of the night sitting in the hallway with four other new moms. The lady across the hall had a tiny baby, by comparision... she told me she had to have a c-section because the baby was too big, a whooping 7lbs 2oz. When I told her how big Noah was she laughed for thinking her little girl was big.

I took this on the hospital bed, while waiting for the pediatrician to give Noah the all clear to go home.

Who's Who?

I usually don't think that babies look like either of their parents or anyone else, but as soon as Noah came out, he made me think of Abby.

To me, the most striking similarity is the nose. That's the one thing I picked out right away that looked the most similar. Throw in the hair, and you've got a "match" as Abby would say.
