This past weekend we had two visitors, my dad and brother visited from Minnesota. Abby really wanted them to see the bird sanctuary. We were fighting the chance of rain and we won, getting in the car just before it started to pour. I know we post a lot of pictures from the sanctuary, but it a favorite of Abby's. She loves see the different birds and making owl calls. Plus there is usually a volunteer or employee out to let us get up close to the animals.
This is checking out a some kind of eagle.
There is no need for a stroller when you've got two strong guys to carry the kiddos around.
Meet Ginger, she's usually in her cage but the volunteer in the room let her our because she's so friendly. Everything was going fine, the kids were petting her and then Abby started chasing her. And then Ginger started chasing Abby.
Tears came from both kids. The chicken did no harm just scared the kids. The volunteer put her back in the crate. Sorry Ginger these are no country kids.
One of many highlights of the weekend was the purchase of Abby's big girl bike. She has done a good job learning to pedal and brake. She's getting on and off on her own. She's pretty cute.
Like I said it rained all morning long Saturday, to the point that Dave was sweeping the grass of rain and using a red solo cup to empty the golf holes. But just as it looked like we would have to cancel the golf tournament the sun came out and it was a glorious afternoon.
The boys started golfing about an hour later than planned but had a great time.
Noah even tried to get in on the action.
Dave had so much fun planning this event. He made up score cards, rules, everything. It was great.
During the tournament the kids were great, Ms. Thang spent part of the time riding her bike around the cul de sac and playing with her new friend, Happy, the caterpillar.
I spent most of the day behind the camera and chasing kids. Here is one photo of us girls. I'm sure she's got Happy in her hands.
Our pal, Kevin Bohn made the first hole in one. The sad part because of the way that hole was set up. He didn't see it happen just heard everyone yell around him that it went it. He's kissing the ball in this picture. Kevin also had the best score of the day.
This is the girls hanging out in the garage, plus Noah. See there's the broom he swept the yard with. The look on the neighbors face as he watched Dave sweep the grass was classic.
Noah man getting golf tips from Bobo. The boys after finishing the tournament and their scorecards.
Chillin' between the golf tournament and the egg hunt.
There is a skip in time here.... after about an hour everyone showed up. Bobo and Dave hid the eggs while I kept them away from the doors. And then they were off. I did a bad job of counting eggs. I thought I filled 197 eggs, yeah not really, more like 260+ eggs. So there was a lot to find.
And the results... there was candy in every egg this year plus 21 of the eggs had a number taped inside that matched a big gift that we hand out afterwards.
Despite all of the eggs found, we still had 3 unclaimed prizes. So we did a raffle before the evening ended. Just yesterday Noah found one of the missing eggs on the deck under a pot. It had a number in it.
Afterwards it was dinnertime, Noah had potato salad for the first time. I think he has a new love.
Charlotte and Audrey also came over with their parents. They had a great time hanging out while the grown ups found eggs. They were too cute playing dress up, poor Noah what will he do with all these girls.
Bohlinger kids with Bobo... we've been cheering him on at races since I was in high school.
The next morning we were up before the sun to head downtown for the GO! St. Louis Marathon and Half Marathon. Bobo ran the half again, he's been doing this for something like 5 or 6 years now. To make it more fun we had bought donuts the day before. Abby eats very dainty compared to the cookie monster devouring his donut.
Our friend Jane also ran the race, we saw her twice during the run. Go Jane Go!
Noah wasn't too impressed with all the runners, he just wanted milk and donuts. This was right after the 6 mile marker. Run Bobo
This was the finish line, Noah needed a little rest. He didn't really nap just took a rest.
He finally woke up to watch Bobo cross the finish line.
And there he is. That was his race time, his clock time was just at 1:52:00
Bobo saw us and stopped to see the grand babies.
Checking out his medal and eating his snacks.
Dancing to the live band "Vote for Pedro" not very good.... neither were Sally's dance moves.
We made this great sign for the race and forgot it at home. Oops. It was still cute for pictures.
Noah also got a new motorized bike. It's Lightening McQueen. He's still getting the hang of the on/off button.
It sure makes him happy.
