Tube Time

Last Friday was tube time for Noah. The day did not start out well. When Noah woke up he was covered in puke. From head to toe and everywhere in between. After a bath to wash the chunks out of his hair and face, Noah was extremely fussy. He didn't feel good, he was running a slight fever. We were worried they wouldn't operate but we were determined to try and have the surgery done. He wasn't even asking for food. We didn't have to report to the surgery center until 8:50a so we decided to do more work on Noah's hair. It still reeked of puke. So we washed and washed and washed, it worked. After  six washes it finally smelled better and it was so soft.

Once at the Surgery Center we had about an hour wait before we were called back. Noah was pretty out of it. Just chillin', he didn't want to walk around or ask for food. He just curled up in my lap and waited for his name to be called.

Once we were called back it was fast. They took Noah's blood pressure and his temperature. We were worried it would be high and they would cancel the surgery, but it was okay. I changed Noah into a nightgown and answered a few questions about his health. The nurse warned us that most toddlers Noah's age are mad as hornets when they wake up and not to be surprised if he was mad at the world after the surgery. We said goodbye to Noah and headed back to the waiting room. It was hardly 15 minutes and Noah's doctor came out to tell us everything went fine. There was fluid behind Noah's right ear which is where most of his infections had happened so they cleaned it up and put in his tubes. The doctor told us to hang tight and the nurse would be out soon to bring us back.

Noah was pretty out of it when we were allowed back to recovery. He wasn't screaming he just kept falling asleep. He clung pretty tight to my shirt as we cuddled. I would ask him if he wanted juice and he would just open his mouth and wait for us to put his drink in his mouth. We stayed in recovery about 20 minutes talking to the nurse and getting Noah to drink. He was not interested in waking up, he just wanted to snuggle. We stopped and picked up Abby from Grandma and Grandpa's and headed home. A few days later we can already see a difference. He's much more independent, and seems to be more aware of whats going on.
I'm just glad it's behind us and hope he can stay ear infection free for a few months.
