Crabby Abby

So, I decided to retell the story that Peggy told a couple of posts ago. I didn't know she had posted that. Looking at the pictures she put up, I decided that they didn't do the meltdown justice.

So, here's what happened. Abby got up monday around 5:50. We have to leave by 6:15 to get to school on time. So, I got her changed, and tried to suck out her nose (she HATES getting her nose cleaned out) on the living room floor. After that battle, she was happy as could be, so I decided to put on her jacket and shoes at 6:05 before i finished getting ready. Boy was that a mistake! I got that finished and went to get myself dressed.....well, apparently Abby thought I should go to school in my sweatpants and slippers. She just sat there and screamed for the next 10 minutes. She has been throwing occasional fits like this lately, which we're trying to curb her of (we fear that this will turn into a much bigger problem soon if we give in to her needless whining!)....

So, I let her be. She didn't get up to come find me, she just sat there.....and screamed. So, I finished getting ready, came to see my beautiful baby, and found this (beware of gross pictures below....don't say you haven't been warned!):

New family photos

We had new family photos taken over the weekend. Thanks to our pal Kai, for taking them. This is just some of the shots. I hope to get the rest over the coming weekend.

Morning Meltdown

Dave is on his own 2 or 3 days a week getting Abby up and out the door for daycare. Most days Abby sleeps until about 15 minutes before they most leave, just enough time to get her dressed and feed before they have to leave. But for the past week she has been getting up extra early, so she's ready to go early. Today she had a bit of a meltdown, Dave put her coat and shoes on about 10 minutes before they had to leave, but she thought because she had her coat on it was time to go. So the meltdown began, plus she is teething so her nosy is very runny. These are just some of the photos Dave told me to look at when I got home.

The Little Things

It's all the little things Abby does lately that make us laugh....

I was brushing my teeth this morning, and Abby was walking from room to room as usual. I finished and went to wipe my face on the towel. Watching me, she promptly went over to the towel, grabbed it, and wiped the non-existent dirt/water from her face. I couldn't help but laugh.

She does so many little funny things like this lately. She definitely keeps us laughing.

The Things I'm Thankful For

In honor of NoBloPoMo, a fellow blogger asked for suggestions on a monthly theme. "Thankful Thursday" is the result. This is a day late... but still a good topic.

1. Dave & Abby - They light up my life. Together they help keep me grounded. Most days when I leave work, I'm usually stressed - be it from a breaking news story or crumbling equipment. Their smiles and love are the greatest gifts.

2. My job - The world of journalism is changing and our station is changing along with it. We did vote for furloughs earlier this year. Furlough - a day of no pay. We took 10 furlough days, but at least they didn't vote for layoffs. Our union starts contract negotiations after the New Year and things could change. What is in store? I don't know, but this scene is playing out at stations across the country. So I know as long as I have a job, I should thank my lucky stars and hope my weekend show keeps up the good ratings so advertisers will keep buying commercials to keep us on air.

3. Neighbors - We love our neighbors... except the crazy one.

We are surrounded by elder widows and a retired couple. All of them are great with Abby and Proton, and we all look out for each other.

4. Compliments, I know I know, but I have a boss who doesn't often remember what show I work on or give words of encouragement or even correction. But this week she sent me an email congratulating me on a great guest I had. It made my day.

5. Fall in St. Louis, it's November and I drove home with the windows down! It's 70 degrees outside.

Another day at the office...

Hulk Hogan was in town yesterday. His new book "My life outside the Ring" was recently published and he is now on his media tour. He is very honest about the car accident his son was in, and his very public divorce.

This is during the interview, meet John Pertzborn & Randi Naughton FOX2 in the Morning anchors from 7-9a.

Mr. Hogan was extremely friendly and talked to most people in the newsroom. He did refuse the 100+ fans that showed up at the station just to meet him. He snuck out the backdoor, so he didn't have to see them. Later in the day Mr. Hogan did sign his book for fans at a public library.

Happy Halloween

Abby definitely got a lot of wear out of her halloween costume.

We trick or treated at our neighbors behind us first, she is an elderly widow who can't get around very well. But she loves her dogs and in turn loved Abby's costume.

After visiting with her we stopped next door to see the other elderly widow who just returned from rehab after falling and breaking her hip.

Finally we took Abby trick or treating around the subdivision, unfortunately our subdivision is much older and many of the neighbors don't turn on their lights. After about 30 minutes we headed back home to answer our own door and make dinner.

We also took Abby's 11 month photo's, at least we attempted them. She wasn't interested in the sign, she just wanted her pumpkin bucket back.
