The "Big" Ultrasound

So, after an entire weekend of intense and frustrating discussion, we decided to find out the sex of the baby. And today was the day! Peggy's appointment was this morning. Needless to say, going in we were quite excited, but probably a little nervous at the same time. We were totally ready to find out!

First off, let me just say that after doing all the measurements and a 20 minute ultrasound, the baby looks perfectly healthy. All the measurements were just fine. Apparently our baby has long legs! Apparently (s)he's going to be a runner!

So the doctor did all these measurements, but she knew that's not what we were there for. So then there we were, seconds away from finding out the sex. And the doctor says........(Scroll down for the sex!)...sorry, but I had to give you the same feeling that we had!

We don't know!!!!!

The stubborn baby has his/her legs crossed! DOH! So, we still don't know! Our next chance to find out is in 4 weeks....yeah, we have to wait another 4 weeks! DOH! After all that anticipation and discussion, we still don't know!

Needless to say, we were a little bummed. BUT, the baby is perfectly healthy, and that's all that really matters!

Our baby currently weighs about 14 ounces (almost a full pound now!). The due date was moved up to November 11th based on the babies measurements, so (s)he is exactly on track in terms of weight and size.

We're very excited that everything is going well, but a tad bit sad that we don't know the sex quite yet. Hopefully the baby will uncross his/her legs before our next ultrasound!

To Find our or not to find out?

Our big ultrasound is tomorrow (Monday). For the last several days we have been trying to decide whether or not we will find out the sex of the baby. It's very enticing to know that tomorrow we will be able to know if we're having a boy or girl. Since we found out we were having a baby, we've both thought we would like to wait, thinking that we didn't want to regret finding out early. However, now we're thinking that there will be so much else going on in october/november, we don't think we would regret anything.

So the bottom line is that, we were undecided. So, what's a couple to do? Let Proton decide, that's what!

So there you have it....we're GOING TO FIND OUT THE SEX TOMORROW! I should say that we're actually just confirming what I've known all along....that its a boy! Heh, how ironic that the vote is 50/50 now! (Although I'm told that a certain sister of mine keeps voting girl!....so the results are somewhat swayed.)

Ok, so we didn't actually let the dog decide this. I told Peggy last night that it was totally up to her, I was happy either way. She decided that she just couldn't wait anymore. Actually, we had to do three different takes to get Proton to choose that yes, we should find out!

We're going to know the sex of the baby TOMORROW!

A Garden Update

The garden is coming along quite nicely. My masters classes and projects around the house have kept me very busy in my summer "off."

This is our garden. Notice that the beans have grown up to the roof! They would still be going if I didn't cut off the vines. We have gotten one good crop of peas and one good crop of beans so far. It doesn't look like much from far away, but its pretty cramped in there. We should get some good harvests in the next couple months. I want to double the size of the garden next year!

We have about 20 or so tomatoes. These three are the biggest. Hopefully we should have some ready to pick in the next couple weeks!

This is the brocolli that we had very high hopes for. Unfortunately something seems to be eating it. I think it will survive though.

This is the new garden I spent the last few days constructing. It's hard work getting those darn blocks level! But we're both very happy with it. Notice the mound to the left of the plants. I planted some pumpkin seeds there yesterday.

This is one of our two strawberry plants. They're sending out runners all over the place. Hopefully we should have a good crop next year!

This was our first harvest of peas. We cooked them with chicken and rice for a nice dinner:

Overall, our garden has been a pretty good success thus far this season. I have learned a lot that I will be able to use next year. I hope our baby enjoys being outside and in the garden!

Back to Reality

We are back home from a wonderful week long vacation in Minnesota. My little brother married his sweetheart Anna, welcome to the family!
Dave and I were also able to sneak away for two nights to Duluth, no dog, no relatives, it was grand. We headed back to Mpls for our last night and my aunts/sister threw a wonderful baby shower, we got so much great stuff. Lots of things that Dave has to put together! Plus everyone decorated a onesie for us they are uber cute.
Now back to reality, Dave is done painting the spare bedroom, hopefully this week we can move the furniture out of the other spare bedroom/soon to be nursery and begin work on the nursery.
One week until the "big" ultrasound, we are still up in the air about finding out the sex of the baby.

Boy or Girl?!

Well, the votes continue to pour in (23 to this point)....and even though girl was took the early lead, boy has made a tremendous comeback! Thanks to everyone for your support! Peggy needs to do some better campaigning. I'm glad the mailers and phonecalls from my staff have encouraged your vote for a boy!

So we decided to give Proton a vote. Hilarity ensued.

She Popped!

So, if you haven't seen Peggy in the last week or so (which many of you haven't), you may notice by looking at this picture that she has "popped".....or as she calls it "my butt looks small."

We went to Kohl's today to raid the maternity section, and are heading to Old Navy tomorrow.

In other news, Peggy has been feeling quite a bit better lately. She's been able to keep almost everything down, and hasn't puked in over a week! Wahoo! She still feels nauseous at times.

My summer has recently started (I love being a teacher). I am trying to get the office converted into a spare bedroom before we leave for minnesota next week. The original spare bedroom will then become the nursery! That project will get underway sometime later this month....we're very excited.

We're closing in on the halfway point. Tomorrow will mark the start of week 17! According to the diagrams, our baby is finally starting to look like it!
