Under the Sea

Mornings can be a little crazy around here, the kids are usually up around 6a, Dave leaves around 6:15 and we follow between 7:30 - 8a.

When we leave it tends to be a production, "no Abby you can't wear your princess gown to school", "give Mommy one minute to change shirts Noah puked on this one", "mommy Noah puked on your shirt", you get the drift. It may seem like an hour and a half is a lot of time to get ready but between breakfast for everyone and just getting dressed the mornings can be a hassle. And I love our house but I think I go up and down the steps a half dozen times in the morning. I'm not really sure why either, I get the diaper bag and my gym packed at night so I don't have to do it in the morning. Whatever this is the life of a mommy of two.

I digress.... so today as we are leaving the house, I'm carrying the diaper bag, purse, gym bag, lunch box, water bottle plus Noah in his bucket seat. Abby is trailing behind when she pipes in "mama you look like an octopus" all I could say was "gee thanks", her response "what?"

That girl, I guess it's better than being called the sea witch.

Bobo and Sally Visit

Bobo and Sally were in town for Noah's baptism and to move Sal back into her dorm at William Woods University in Fulton, MO. We did get in a trip to the zoo while they were here. I forgot my camera, thankfully Bobo remembered his camera. I didn't get a ton of pictures that weekend we were so busy. We visited the zoo Friday, Saturday was the baptism and Sunday we moved Sally. Okay "we" didn't move Sally, Bobo did. They left early Sunday morning before I was home from work. I picked up the kids and drove an hour and a half to William Woods to "help" and bring Dad back to St. Louis for his flight. hour

I know we go to the zoo a lot but its a great zoo and it's free! The three things you have to pay for are free the first hour the zoo is open everyday. So the first stop was the stingrays.

And the carosel, Abby didn't like this last year, it was too loud. This year she loves it.

Noah was a long for the ride but he didn't do the rides. He's just a little too small.

Busted

That's been the theme this past week at our house. Right before the baptism Abby wiped out scrapping up her knee... Then last Saturday when she went in the bathroom to clean up she missed her stool and smashed her lip into the bathroom counter. It bleed a little but she quickly recovered.

Sunday - we were playing outside and I punched in the code to open the garage door and Abby started running into the garage before it was all the way open... she cracked her head right on the edge of the door, not causing blood but it knocked her back on her butt and caused a lot of tears.

She had a two good days and then last night we were back outside on the deck when she ran right into the picnic table. She wasn't even going that fast and she was looking right at it. Bam it got her. There was a lot of blood and tears. This was by far the worst crash she has had.

I'm not sure if her depth perception is bad or is she's just a really clumsy two-year-old but she has a really big lip today. We debated urgent care last night but it stopped bleeding quickly and isn't that deep its just a really long cut.

Thank goodness Abby doesn't seem to mind blood. I did ask her this morning if we could try and be accident free for the next few days. Daycare is going to start asking questions!

Noah's Baptism

Noah Thomas was baptized Saturday. He did really well during the service only attempting to rip off the Pastor's mic once. Abby was also helpful standing right night to the Pastor as he poured the water on Noah's head.

Apparently she needed to make sure it was done right. Noah has some pretty awesome Godparents in Kai and Nicole. Dave and Kai have been friends since high school and I've known Kai just as long as I've known Dave. Auntie 'cole was my college roommate for all four years and my dearest friend. We had a small gathering at the house afterwards. Thanks to everyone who came over. Noah loves you all.

Someday... maybe where they are in high school I hope they pose together. Looking the same direction, that's all I ask. It's my goal for Christmas.

As you may know, Abby LOVES wildlife, especially things she can hold.  Last week she found a worm that she was very impressed with!

The Dinner Dilemma

As you may remember, we've been having issues lately with Abby eating all of her dinner.  So, a few weeks ago, we imposed some new rules.  She wasn't getting down from the dinner table until her plate was clear.

It took Abby a few nights, but she seems to have finally figured it out.  I already wrote about the first night.  The second and third nights were better, but still not great.

However, since then, we haven't had to leave her at the table by herself.  And it's been a few weeks now.  She usually eats all her dinner without much fuss.  Our bigger problem is just getting her to focus on dinner.  She likes to talk a lot at the dinner table, and kind of forgets to eat.  We have to keep reminding her to get started.

We're very happy that dinner time is no longer a struggle every night!  Hooray!
