In other news, we're trying to figure out why Abby hasn't been sleeping much lately. About a month ago, she was sleeping a solid 11 hours at night, at least a one hour nap in the morning, and a two hour nap in the afternoon (so probably around 13 to 14 hours a day).
Well, for about the last two or three weeks, she's been sleeping for about 9 hours at night (at most), and a total of about 1.5 hours of nap during the day (again, at most). So, she's dropped by at least 3 to 4 hours of sleeping per day. And it seemed to happen almost overnight.
If you've been following me on facebook, you'll know that Abby has been getting up around 4:30AM every morning. This morning, she "slept in" until 4:40.....hooray for me! Haha.
So, we're trying to figure out what's up with her sleeping schedule lately. It's rough on us, but me in particular because I get up with Abby five days a week.
And before you say that we should just keep her up later at night, we already do. For the past couple of weeks, she's been going to bed around 7:00. This seems pretty early, but it's definitely the latest she's ever stayed up for her average bedtime. Yet, she's now waking up earlier than ever before. If we try to keep her up any later, she gets incredibly crabby, and falls a lot because she's so tired.
I'm thinking we just need to get rid of the morning nap (yesterday, her morning nap was only 20 minutes). She doesn't take a morning nap at school. But, when she gets up at 4:30, it's hard to keep her up until noon.
So, we'll see what happens.

Maybe her sleep changes are related to her eating changes???
She is growing up WAY too fast!
Have you tried putting her to bed a little bit earlier? Apparently a common solution to waking up too early is to put the kiddo to bed earlier. Some kids respond to sleep deprivation by NOT sleeping well, so maybe try pushing her bedtime up to 6:30.
She should be sleeping around 13-14 hours per day and it doesn't sound like she's getting that.
An earlier bedtime helped with Charlotte. We moved bedtime from 8:00 to 7:30 and now she sleeps a full 12 hours most nights with a 2-3 hour nap late morning. Just a suggestion!
