Quotables - Moon and Deer

These two conversations took place in the same car trip on the way to school the other day:  

Abby: “Can we have a deer as a pet?”

Me: “No, deer are wild animals.”

Abby: “Hmmm.”  “Maybe we could plant a bunch of trees in its cage.  That would make it like the wild.”

Me: “I don’t think it works that way.”

Just a few minutes later:

Abby: “Someday, when we fly a kite, I’m going to go to the moon with you.”

Me: “Well, the moon is really far away.”

Abby: “Yeah, but the kite goes up really high.”

Me: “It’s a lot farther away than that.”

Abby: “Well maybe we could take a big balloon.”

Me: “Yeah, maybe.”

Abby: “Or maybe we could get a talking bird to fly us up there.”

Me: “A talking bird?”

Abby: “Yeah, it could fly us up really high.”

Me: “Yeah.”

Abby: “But you need to find the talking bird.  I’ll just take a balloon.”

Me: “Haha, ok.”

Abby: “Or maybe we could take a big dragon?”

Me: “Yeah, but where are we going to find a big dragon?”

Abby: “Ummm….a kids show maybe?”

Me: “Haha.”

She was referring to the movie “How to Train Your Dragon.”
